iPhone 3G & 3GS Middle Frame Bezel. This is the part that the digitizer bonds to and the LCD and home button attaches to also.

This allows the whole front assembly to be clipped into the iPhone housing. These plastic and rubber frames very often break and become deformed when you remove the digitizer and is well worth replacing with the digitizer.
